Quality Assurance has always been an important facet
of Canadian Seed Coaters mandate. From the incorporation of the
company there has always been a
specific
area of the business dedicated to the Quality Assurance of the
coated seed products produced in our
coating facility.

At Canadian Seed Coaters all seed lots are tested for
germination using the C.F.I.A. "Canadian Methods and Procedures
for Testing Seed". The uncoated sample is germinated alongside
the coated sample,
enabling us
to compare the performance
of the seed lot (in both forms)
to the standards set out in the Canadian Seed Regulations.

Pre-inoculated forages are tested according to "The Methods of
Testing Legume Inoculants and Pre-inoculated Seed Products"
published by C.F.I.A. and must meet extremely strict standards for
the number of
viable Rhizobium cells/seed. Other specialized
tests are performed on the enhanced seed as required.
However
Quality Assurance does not begin in the laboratory. Seed is
inspected upon arrival and continually throughout the coating
process. It is examined for impurities while it is being unloaded
and all documentation is checked to ensure the correct seed has been
received. The seed is examined many times throughout the coating
process to ensure that an even,
dust free
coat, of the correct color and texture is being produced.
The
checks dictated by Canadian Seed Coaters ISO 9001:2000 registered
Quality System ensure that no unacceptable
product leaves our facility. |
